Information Regarding GenuTax Unlimited Printing Versions

Starting with 2007 tax returns, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has imposed a limit of 20 returns that can be prepared with each copy of NETFILE-certified tax preparation software. For more information on this limit, see this web page. The Standard version of GenuTax includes this limit, whether you are filing an eligible tax return through NETFILE, or you are printing and mailing a paper tax return.

For individuals that personally require the ability to prepare more than 20 tax returns for 2008, a special paper-filing version, GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2008, is available. This version of GenuTax has no limit on the number of tax returns for 2008 that can be printed and mailed. However, you are not able to use the Canada Revenue Agency's NETFILE system with this special version, and this version is not eligible for free annual updates.

If you personally require the ability to prepare more than 20 tax returns for 2009, the special paper-filing version, GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2009, will be available by the middle of March 2010.

The primary differences between these two versions are as follows:

GenuTax Standard:

• for each year, allows you to prepare up to 20 tax returns for 2007 through 2009, and an unlimited number of tax returns for 2003 through 2006
• for 2009 tax returns, includes the option to use the Canada Revenue Agency's NETFILE system, or to print and mail a paper tax return
• includes annual tax updates for future years at no additional cost

GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2008:

• allows you to prepare and print an unlimited number of paper tax returns for 2008
• does not include the ability to use the Canada Revenue Agency's NETFILE system
• does not include the ability to prepare tax returns for prior years
• does not include free annual tax updates

Any taxpayer files created with GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2008 may be opened and edited with GenuTax Standard. However, only 2008 tax returns located within taxpayer files created with GenuTax Standard may be opened and edited with GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2008.

If you own a copy of both versions, you will still receive free annual tax updates for your copy of GenuTax Standard.

GenuTax Unlimited Printing 2008 may be purchased for $79.99 plus applicable sales taxes. If you already own a copy of the Standard version of GenuTax, a discount is available to you.

Please note that none of these versions of GenuTax software are approved for use by individuals that are in the business of preparing tax returns on behalf of others.
